There is an entrance fee with a discount for SF residents but its well worth the experience.
Japanese tea garden entrance fee. We ended up paying 75 for the membership because we live close by and it pays for itself in 3 trips we have been twice so far. At this time we are not able to accommodate groups or families larger than 12 people due to Oregon Health Authoritys COVID-19 restrictions. We also provide a discount for visitors who are unable to see the entirety of the Garden due to accessibility. The Garden will open on the 7th May 2021.

The free Golden Gate Park Shuttle offers access to the Japanese Tea Garden and the eastern half of Golden Gate Park with stops along JFK Drive and at the Music Concourse steps away from the Tea Gardens entrance.

There is a ton of greenery to admire and koi fish filled ponds to hold you attention as well. The shuttle operates on weekends and holidays from 10am to 730pm. There is a 1000person charge for using a tripod for anyone who is not a Garden Member.
The Japanese Tea Garden is a beautiful garden nestled within Golden Gate Park. Of course you cant visit without sampling authentic Japanese teas. Its big compared to other gardens Ive been to.
